Cam Advancing Question
#1
I got a question for all you engine guru's out there. I'm building a 370 for my 01 T56 swapped single cab short bed with 4.56 gears. Its almost a complete short block right now, i have 4 pistons left to install and i still have to order some morel lifters. It was a 6.0 lq9 in the truck for about 1500 miles until i sprayed it and went lean and melted a hole in a piston. So i started over boring it out .030 over with forged pistons and forged rods. Its got flat tops with -3.2cc valve reliefs, 6.125 rods, 799 heads, 234/242 .629/.629 112+4 cam, ls9 head gaskets. It was basically an iron block ls2 with 11:1 compression. With the 6.0 the cam pulled really good after 2500rpm or so. I'm wanting to see if i can advance the cam timing to bring the power on a little sooner. The only concerns im going to have are 1.PTV clearance which i can check for, 2.Will this raise my compression to where i cant run 93 pump gas. I didnt have 6.125 rods in the 6.0 so I think that should raise it some along with making the ptv clearance even closer. I wont run anything less when i swap in this motor and 3.can i advance it up to 4*?
Im going to spray it with a 150 shot at first and then step up to 200,250 and maybe even 300. I have a lnc2000 to retard the ignition timing so that shouldnt be an issue.
Thanks
Jody
