with that cam he will have to get the patriot gold dual springs, hardend push rods 7.425 long, tunening and a 3500 stall converter, heavy trucks don't like the large duration of cams, if he can find a 212 218 high lift cam on a 114 then he would be better off, unless he likes large stalls lol, that cam in a 5.3 would pull to 7300 easy I bet.

We will have to change the springs, pushrods, and a stall converter right? With a tune of course. What else would have to be changed? Will the stock pistons have to be fly-cut?
Basically he wants to just make it a cam only 5.3L
Im assuming thats at .050
truck engines dont respond to large cams like the fbods. I wouldnt go with a cam that big unless youve got the heads and intake to support it, its like trying to breath through a straw doesnt make sense.

The stock pistons should be fine with that lift but with the added duration I would still check clearances.
FYI I milled .050 and my cam has .566 lift but only 222 duration.

thats a big cam for a fbody even lol

thats a huge cam for a truck lol.. i'd pass and just find something in the 210-220 range on 114lsa if you could. Even with me 210/218 i lost some low end. With a 231 i'd need a semi behind me to help me make it up the road below 3k lol
