Default cam for 5.3 z71

I am lifting my 00 z71 and will be running 39.5 swampers. I want to put in a cam and converter for low end power but I have know idea which one to use. Other than thorley headers everything is stock. What would be best for mostly low end torque but also fairly decent top end as well? Anything else I could do that would give more low end?

Dont get naything over a 2500 stall speed converter Fuddle makes some good converters but on the cam man I know alittle bit about cams but not enough to really point you in the right direction I would call Comp or Crane or one of the other manufacturers and tell them what you need and they should be able to tell you. FYI you need a custom tune also to make the most of the cam and also will be able to adjust alot of other things to make the truck more driveable give Nelson Performance a call he can hook you up I had him tune my truck and its awesome the difference that it makes. There are other tuners out there but most of the guys that are at the top are either doing their own tuning or have Nelson do their tuning I personally wouldnt trust anyone else.

I have been looking into cams others have used: comp 212/218, tr220, vinci 210/218 and 216/224. I know all of these are close but is there one better than the others? Would a yank 2600 be too much stall for my setup? The tr220 says not to use 1.8 rockers and the rest say they work well with the 1.8's. If I use crane 1.8 rockers, whick cam would be best?

I have the Vinci Ultra-Torque cam, recommended to me for excellent low-end and an improved top-end.
Specs are:
210/218-551/551-116

I really like it a lot, and it came alive even more with the 1.8 rockers. If you can afford the whole kit I would definitely recommend it. I think the gross lift increases to .585 or so with the 1.8 rockers.

It is...its got a very subtle hardly noticeable lope to it....the thing that made it really loud was the rockers. I just had a Magnaflow resonator welded in and it helped a lot, but it was really really raspy with the Corsa and gutted cats.
