The cam is in.

Today I installed a comp 212/218 cam and a set of stock Z06 heads (milled 20 thou). I can tell a difference however it was not what I was expecting. I also installed a new gm V6 torque converter, I got it for free so I am going to try it out. Stall speed not much different from stock.
With the new converter in I took it for a another spin around the block. I need more stall, but I decided it was a little better.
I am going to take it to the track Thursday, if it doesn't rain. I will let ya'll know how it turns out.

We just got finished installing the same cam in a buddie's truck along with a port job in his stock 5.3 heads w/ larger valves (2.02/1.6). When I left last night we only had 60 miles on the truck since the swap and the computer seemed to be still learning the new cam provile and increased flow thru the engine. I can tell a nice difference in his truck. Here are the ATAP numbers we pulled last night. http://www.sshotrods.com/media/autotap.htm As you can see it was running quite a bit richer on the first run than on the second so that makes me think that the computer is starting to figure it out. We are going to try in again later in the week after a few more miles.

What year model truck is this on? The timing numbers are pretty high. Don't get me wrong, they are good. My highest timing numbers in that range were low 20s from the factory on my 99. I fixed that with LS1 edit.
Does he have any tuning on it? HPP3?
What had to be done to get the valves to work on those heads?

well crap!
thats the cam that i want to do. someone else did that cam and they gained 43hp. i was expecting about 50hp gain, because i have a '99. i would think that you could notice a big difference, with it. well please let us know how it goes at the track.

Yep that's the truck we were working on, Thanks Brandon. HPP tunning was installed on those runs.
For the valve ?... the 2.02 intake valves will drop in with some unshrouding but the 1.6 exhaust had to have new seats to fit. I believe 1.57 is the largest you can go on the exhaust without changing the seat. 2.02 is largest on intake.

DAng! Leaving me in the dark again! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> That was probably eaiser than changing the seats. Let me know for sure about the dyno. I may try to ride over and put my truck on it as well. Regardless I want to know what it pulls. I will hollar at you tonight and get the scoop on everything.
