Default Calling All Truck Racers!!!!

I have a question for guys and gals that were interested in racing at the Thunder Shootout. I know some people wanted heads up but we have to face reality that we won't have enough trucks with equal mods to have different classes. Here are the 2 solutions that I have. Please give me any input you can on what you would prefer to see. Even if you are not coming let me know what you think.

1: Standard Bracket Race. (should be self explanatory)

2: Eliminator style Index Race.

This would be a handicapped style index race with classes every .50 seconds. A 12.00 class could race aganist a 13.50 class with a delay but on a .500 Pro-Tree, first one to the stripe without breaking out wins. We would build a Pro Ladder meaning the truck closest to thier index would race the truck farthest from thier's, and so on. Sorry it's not true heads-up but it's a change from regular bracket racing.

I think index racing is the next best thing to heads up. The way it sounds though it will look like bracket racing anyway with the staggered start for different classes.(am I reading that right?) How many index classes were you thinking about for the trucks?

I definately don't envy you guys setting up these races and making rules , what a pain.

I like the index style best. It means more trucks will be actually racing rather than sandbagging. It's more or less a modified bracket anyway.

It will basiclly look like this:

14.50
14.00
13.50
13.00
12.50
12.00
11.50
11.00

Classes could be added if need be.

I would drop the 1/2 sec classes and add a 15 (remember we are slow) Look at our FASTEST TRUCK LIST to get an idea of what we are running. You will be lucky to have 2 trucks in the 11 sec class. Paul, are LT1 based trucks going to be running? What are the rules you have in mind so far for this?

Paul, there should be a pretty good truck turnout judging by the guy's around the Peirre Part area. There was at least 15 or more at the Street Nationals.Anyway I do agree with Fast4.8 on the 15 but keep the 11 for a little king of the hill battle.

I'm confused on what you mean by drop the 1/2 second classes. So are you saying going to full second classes? You do understand that there will not be a race for each class right? Each class will race other classes on a handicapped .500 Pro-Tree. 15 second classes would be no problem to add. All GM trucks would be welcome.

Guess I missed that. When you say "all GM Trucks would be welcome"
That adds a different diminsion to it. There are some SBC trailer queens running 9's and 10's over here. What are the cage requirments art NPR? HRP says cage under 12's.

The rules for the cars would pretty much aply here to right? full carpet/interior, 2 front seats. What about tailgates

9 and 10 second trailer queens won't even worry about coming Greg. It doesn't matter how fast or slow you are just pick the best index for your truck and everybody has the same chance at winning.
