Default CAI or not?

ok guys wats up i own a 99 5.3 with like 160k miles, shes fairly stock, just bigger tires NItto TErra Grapplers 285 7516...orginally came with the BFG's but wore them out so i got the nittos, she is taller than stock silverados i have noticed bigger shocks thats it, im not really good in the suspension area so dont really know if anything else has been done, my question here is what CAI should i go for? i read about the S&B one and the Volant CAI, they both look great and they have the airbox too, is it really worth it? or is cuttin a hole thru the stock air box and adding a high flow filter the best way to go?......I've been wanting to get a CAI to help her breath better but saving up $$ is kinda HArd these days...anywho i would appreciate your advice and thanks in advance

..ohhh also i have 6000K 50W on my lows & fogs, and 10K highs all 50W hid kits hehehehe

save your money! Best thing to do is buy a high flow filter instead! Take the money you would spend on that intake and buy a custom tune from blackbear performance for about the same price! The tune will wake up your truck and make it run much much better!

there isnt much to be had with the aftermarket cai's, but if you were wanting one then stay away from the open element ones where the filter sucks the hot engine air. you want an enclosed box, volant and s&b are both great. but bang for your buck is the air raid jr kit, it comes with a high flow filter and a modular intake tube.

I believe most guys are sending their PCM to the tuner. You discuss what you want in your tune and they do it at there shop. If you send in a PCM,it'll cost less. If,not they can send you a tuned PCM and you just swap it with yours, which is easy to do. There are tuners listed on the right side of your monitor---->

If you live close to a tuner, you could have it tuned while you wait. I'd think Ca would have lots of good tuners.

You can do the air box mod and add a high-flow filter. I hear about it all the time on the local weekend radio show. I hear 2mpg plus some performance gain. Personally IDK;I got mine for higher air flow.
