Default Cable style throttle to drive by wire

My engine craped out and instead of dealing with it ima just get a new engine my truck is a cable drive throttle and what do i need to convert it to a newer drive by wire??? is it possible? i dont like the feel of it but thats all i can find if i want a engine with decent miles on it or is there a way to convert drive by wire to cable style throttle...anybody done this??

you should have cable driven right now. i would stay with cable driven IMO. use the intake and all of the brackets off of your old motor if the new motor is the DBW style

just throw the cable driven tb on the newer engine.

so thats it?? what about if its say and 05 lm7 without egr and all the rest of the minor differences...can i just get a new ecm tuned to 05 specs?? just throw it in there withth e cable style intake

what year truck is this going on?

if its the truck in your sig you dont have to update the ecm. just leave it how it came new from the factory IMO.

i'm not sure but you might need a 1mb pcm (blue & green connectors) if going with a 05 engine. they started putting them on the 03 engines w/ dbw tb's.

Yeah its a 2000 z71...sounds good...bluecajun can u tell me more about this connector i may need??...anyone else with info please post i need to be sure and u alls opinions really help....thankx

i would just use then motor with your old intake, throttle body, wiring etc etc. that will be the cheapest route and cable driven is better than DBW anyday IMO.

not going to go into detail but the 99 to 02 pcms are 512mb that have red and blue connectors that go to the pcm. 03 and up are 1mb pcms that have blue and green connectors.
