CA Sierra 1500 w/5.3 - whats good to remove for pwr
I bought a low mileage 2002 Sierra 1500 Reg Cab Short bed from someone in California. Truck is an original CA vehicle. I am in rural AZ with no smog or vehicle inspection....what CA smog stuff can I remove from this truck for a little more power and less clutter.

What smog stuff do you think it has?
I don't even know if they ever came with air pumps and past that there is nothing you can remove that is going to just give you horsepower. Unless you don't want a water pump, power steering pump or alternator.
If you want to add power, start replacing parts that give you more power. Like long tube headers, camshaft swap and that sort of thing. Get a tune done. Swap the rear end gears to something more aggressive if they are mild highway gears. 3.42's to some 3.90's or 4.10's would make it a totally different truck.

Gonna have to swap parts to gain power for sure. Cold air intake, or an aftermarket intake tube and high flow filter in the stock box, long tube headers, eliminate the cats, swap out the restrictive factory muffler, camshaft, heads, intake manifold.
It's gonna depend on your budget and what you really want to do with the truck.

Guys,
I haven't been back to this for a while...I am having a problem with the truck's title. Seems there was a duplicate one after the one I have. Working to resolve it has been annoying at best.
The reason for the initial question was because its a California truck. But, I guess from the responses there are no smog item issues. If I keep the truck, I will modify it. Its a good starting point with a 3.73 posi rear and a 5.3. We'll see.
