Default C clips?

Do our 10-bolts have 'em? If so, should I go ahead and get eliminators while I'm putting in the Eaton/4.10s?

yes they have c clips.i think pre 66 65 did not. do away with them. if you break a axle with them they still come out.the only way an axle could come out with out them is if it breaks right on the end

Yes, they have them. I still have the C clips if that helps decide if you should get rid of them or not.

I don't wanna have to touch this rearend unless I absolutely have to. Is is just a matter of buying the eliminators and installing them, or is there more involved?

Right now, my rear end plans are:

Eaton posi
4.10 GM gears
TA girdle & stud kit
C-clip elims

I have a tendancy to go overboard...is this overboard for wanting to launch on the bottle? Repeatedly?!

Actually, the rear disc setups will hold the axle in if it breaks most of the time. I have never seen one come out yet, but have heard of 1 or 2. The caliper holds the rotor which holds the axle, and keeps it from sliding out. It would still be a pain to control with the messed up camber from the broken axle. I dont know how fast you are planing on running, heavy truck, bottle, 4.10, engine mods- I have seen many live under those conditions, but many fail under a lot less. Its not "cheap" insurance, but it is nice to know it is there.

My eventual goal is 11s. What all is involved in installing the C-clips? I guess I could get 'em from Moser?

I wouldn't do C-clip eliminators with disk brakes, because as mzoomora said the disks will keep the shaft in. The plus to the eliminators is that you can get custom axles that are not indexed for the c-clips, but they are only marginally stronger.

I'd go with a 14 bolt (which have c-clips too!) before I spent money on beefing up a 10 bolt.
