Charlie,

The tuning sucks, I gave Dusty his cable back, so I will hold off until the weekend to start back. Stock tune is back in for now.

Once we figure out why the HELL the cruise goes inop we will be in good shape

I wish mine pulled as good as a VMAX. I guess maybe having the larger tires on it doesn't help, but damn, mine is a turd. Although my K&N CAI came in last yesterday and I installed it and it definitely helped A BUNCH. My AeroChamber Muffler should be in today and then Friday getting it tuned so hopefully it gets better. The K&N gives me high hopes cause it pulls much harder thru all RPMs now.

My mileage isn't as good as yours either. I've been averaging about 16-17 MPG, but one tank I got 15.5. Not good, was hoping for better, my ECSB 04 5.3 was averaging 18-19.5 fully modded. But I really think the tuning holds it back a lot. In town I was having to drive it in 3rd cause it just had no *** behind it in drive.

My LQ9 also had heavy *** 295/70-17 Load Range E's and Heavy Wheels too, but It did run a 14.9 with only timing, tq mngt, and shift points touched!!

Let me clarify the pulling hard part, the 4.8 from a stop sucks until 25-30mph - from there I would blow my VMAX away from the SOTP's meter.

L33Z71,

I have 3.23's and a 30.5 tires, I dont know if that has alot to do with it or not.

Unless the 4.8s are something very different, my tuned 4.8 didn't have SQUAT on 6.0 anywhere. I'd be interested in seeing dyno charts of the two engines. I'm willing to bet the LQ9 makes torque above 2500rpm than the 4.8's peak torque. I know for sure the 6.0 makes more torque everywhere. It's got better heads, more compression, more timing, more bore and more stroke.

Dont Vmax's only come with 4.10s?

so 4.10gears + LQ9 vs 4.8 + 3.23s?

uhhh....

edit: didn't realize the 4.8 is a RCSB vs the LQ9 being a 4x4 CCSB

CCSB with 500lbs of wheels and tires at the least, and a very mild tune.

the new 4.8's are rated at 295/305. It could also be that it is in my head, I am missing the VMAX, but I know it was the smart thing to do for right now.

i know im still grappling with the size of the wheel wells in my mind.. i dont even know if you can fit a big enough tire in the width of the fender opening that will be tall enough to close down the wheel gap to something that looks good... it really looks like the wheel opening is taller than it is wide...

1FUN,

Yeah, mines got 3.73's but also has the 265-70-17's on it. Like you said, from a stop, not much, but round 20-25--up it will scoot. Although there is a dead spot somewhere, I think right after the 2nd gear shift, and it won't move for ****.

I definitely suggest an intake though. I noticed an immediate diff last night after putting mine on. Hope I see the same results with my exhaust and tune later this week

Default Hello again Vmax

Well the dealer screwed up and pissed me off.

1. They sell a theft device called the stealth, I said no, they said it was already installed.... I was like whats 600 bucks, my payment is lower and better milage right. Wrong, they never installed it, none of their cars have it installed, it is a scam. I wasnt to happy with that.

2. I told the finance guy that I will only do paper work once, he didnt listen, I was approved thru a credit union but was not a member, and he forgot to have me fill out a member form. then tried to get me to lie and say I was still in the Navy just got out on the 10th of this month. Sorry, wont be part of a fraud deal. Then the Gen Manager said he was going to keep my truck and not pay it off, I said fine, wait one please. Dialed GMAC and told them, they told me to take my truck and leave. So I did, after they dealer finally realized they couldnt bully me into signing a new contract.

3. Went into day, got my VMAX back and I was happy. Well until I saw my front bumper, just so happens they parked it into a fence, no bad damage(very minor) But it is the principle of the whole thing. They are going to pay for it, but they are not going to fix it.

It worked out great, I was missing the truck so much, I am going to keep it now. I was like a little kid who lost his puppy.

Now I feel better.
