Last week when I ran the Sonoma I had a small K&N cone filter attached to the MAF. After just one run the K&N would get so hot I couldn't touch it. Those of you who are familiar with these cars know that there is absolutely no significant air opening for the intake short of taking off the driver side headlight.
I decided to bust out the sawzaw and take care of that problem! I cut a 4x7" opening in the fender and a matching opening in the stock air box. I then threw a K&N stock replacement filter in and buttoned it back up. It sure felt good cutting in to a 1 month old truck.
Here are some pics:

The car now sucks plenty of fresh air from the wheel well area, and as a bonus looks completely stock. More cheap mods coming soon!

I've had the K&N with my ATI Procharger kit get pretty wet before but, the supercharger atomizes any water that makes it thru pretty good.
Why don't you just drop a LS1 in that thing and be done with it. Afterall this is the "GM V8 Truck Performance" forum.
Keep up the mods.(Just don't get too ghetto) I really want to see if you can put the truck in the 13 sec. range on street tires.

Hmmm, Looks like a COLD WATER INTAKE. Thats ok, once you Hydroloc the motor, you have an excuse to slap a vette motor in it.
