Default Built Tranny?

What exactly constitutes a 'built' tranny? Just wondering.

Also, lately, I've noticing my tranny acting funny. When driving like 55 or so and letting off the gas, it'll lightly 'kick' back like at the instance you are going faster than the tranny was spinning. What is this?

I also have a descreened maf, could this be it? And just don't say it just to throw in the 'I told you so.'

So how much does building up a tranny (60E) cost if you do it yourself?

If you paid, labor is gonna be $600-900 or so. Parts dependant on how far you decide to go...

Crazy. I was already thinking of doing the trasgo kits and servos, would it be a waste of my time versus building my own?

That's labor for a full good rebuild around here.

TransGo and servos isn't too bad (billet servos are a PITA w/ stock Y-pipe) of an install. Just keep it clean and docile shifts.

Do you know how much goes into a tranny rebuild? You need about $500-600 in tools alone to do it yourself. You'll need to fully dismantle it first and clean it all. You've gotta keep all the clearances just right, they can't be too great or too little...ATSG manuals tell you the specifics. You've got endplay, clutch pack clearances (adjused w/ snap rings), 2-4 band clearance, and working the VB over is a trick. That's the brains of it all.

I wish it was a simple gut and fill, but it's FAR from it for a good build.

Ah, I was estimating it was many time more difficult than manuals but I guess I was wrong. I suppose I'll just do the vette or billet servo with transgo for the while. How do they fair with towing?

How do you mean "many time more difficult" ?

The TransGo, 'Vette servo, and billet OD should make the trans last far longer. I'd also invest in a big ATF cooler, they are cheap insurance. Also besure to keep the OE heatexchanger in the loop for max cooling.

Yeah, I mean I've rebuilt a few manual trannies in Jeeps and junk but those were easy. Thanks for the advice, guess I'll go shopping later..
