Built 6.0- How Much Nitrous?
#21
parish, you sem to be getting plenty of power out of your 5.3, would a 5.3 with all the same mods i was thinking of or 6.0 be able to to keep up if it had a big cam. i'm asking because i'm wondering if a more aggressive 5.3 would have beter fuel mileage.

not sure. i think on a boosted set up you can nearly the same hp with any of the stock motors. 4.8/5.3/6.0 all good for 600+rwhp with a good tune and the smaller the motor the better the mileage.
on a nitrous motor i dont know if all of the motors would get near the same hp level.

both nitrous and boosted motors wok on the same principle of simply forcing more air into the engine so i would think what goes for boost will also go fo nitrous but i'm not sure either. anyone else have a take on this.

on a stock 6.0 i would feel prety comfortable with a 200shot. not so sure i would try a 200shot on a stock 4.8 but yea it would probably take it just fine.

Well if this holds true then I don't think what holds true for boost holds true for nitrous...
Nitrous likes high compression
Boost loves low compression. Build it for what you want because they seem to require different parameters.

i was thinking more along the lines of maximum power output. i guess i should have said, since i'm looking to build a motor with decent fuel economy, can a 5.3 with a more agressive cam, bored to like a 383, handle as much spray as a 6.0, make similar max hp, but give me better fuel mileage?

If you want fuel economy go with the set-up with the smallest chamber size. 6L(364) is better on fuel economy than a bored and stroked (383) and a 5.3L will trump them all. Do what Tootall suggests, proven and simple and good fuel economy, and spray a little for when you wanted added power. Spray shot is doubled when in boosted applications, from what I understand, Parish would know more as he sprayed on 18 lbs 1/4 mile runs.
