Default Building up a 5.3???

Want to build up a 5.3L engine to lower compression and make it bulletproof for a Radix.

Still making it a daily driver with no loping and stockish idle, if not stock.

What should I do to the engine?

I was going to go with a 6.0L swap but changed my mind, you can still do alot with the 5.3L.

Please help.

Thanx guys.

well the first thing i would do is bore the 5.3 block to a ls1 bore think it is like 4" not sure. now before you say no the reason i would do this is cost and ease of getting pistons. stock 5.3 bore pistons will be more expensive and will take longer to get.

get some good rods, crank should be fine, cam to best soot you app., some good heads, maybe a double roller chain, decide what kind of oil pump.

you will need a lot of more small things valve train, push rods, and some other stuff.

it is not cheap and will take a while. good luck

You should have no problems running a Radix on a stock 5.3, I am doing it with 11 pounds of boost. Daily drivin.

maybe i should do just slp rockers instead of all the other stuff. cost is not issue but longevity is. for the engine only.

thanx

if you want to BULLETPROOF a 5.3 then you'll definatly have to go forged internals, and i agree, i would bore the block to 3.905" and get some pistons from Diamond and a set of 6.125" eagle rods. you're pretty much set for around 800+/- hp at that point, then put the radix on at about 8psi and spray the **** out of it on top.

a completely stock internal 5.3 heads/cam/boost/spray, i'd say around 500-550 rwhp. StupidFast made 499 with stock heads, a small cam and 8psi from a D1SC on a stock internal 6.0
