I'd recommend the Circle-D from my personal experience, besides being a top notch converter, Chris's customer service is excellent, and there's also a small discount for being a PT.net member. Go with at least a 2600 stall, you won't regeret it, and around town, a big 300mm converter will react like stock, but when you mash it, the RPM's will flash to around 2600. With that converter, I'd go with the 212/218 cam that has been referred to above...as mentioned, it's a proven performer with gains throughout the powerband.

I've heard of Monster Transmissions, but the most that I know about them is great marketing, not sure how good their products are, but I do know that as far as converters for our trucks go, Circle-D and Yank are the best

X2 on the Circle D 2600 With a cam in that range. Its a great Budget converter at a reasonable price. $375 Shipped how can you Beat that on a New converter...
On a restalled stock one yes you can get them cheap for like $150-$250 depending on what they use inside of it. But the highest you can go is around 2200-2400 because of the size of the converter. There not as efficent and you get what you pay for....

hmm ok, i just feel that 2600 is too high for what i do with my truck, what if i had that cam ground with a tighter lsa like 112 instead of 114?
