BTR TRUCK STAGE II CAM with heads worth it?
#12
These BTR truck cams are not designed for upgraded heads or anything else done. These are simply for stock trucks looking to gain more. Talk with the people at BTR and they will tell you the same thing. if you are looking to doing heads and more, you will benefit better doing a different cam that is going to give you the results.

Compare apples to apples. Mill the 243s back to stock compression and retest. It will gain more power based of the stock 706 heads. 243s/799s have bigger valve and flow better than stock 706s. yes you can rework the head to work it just the same but the cost of doing so, might as well as get a set of 243s (super cheap head) and port and polish and gain even more.

Dont get me wrong the entire line of BTR truck cams are great, and if going into a stock engine, i would recommend them every time, but they are made for bone stock truck engines. I did port and polish on my stock 706s and i could have gain even more if i did another cam other than my stage 3 btr cam.
