Default broken tensioner

Okay so last night i got on it pretty good and all of the sudden lost power steering so luckally i was by my house and limpted it home. Got out and looked and my tensioner was broke the aluminum broke and bent one of the bolts what do you think would cause the aluminum to break. I have a procharger and i have the belt pretty tite to keep it from slipping so maybe it was to tight. Thanks

My belt is beyond tight. I was having trouble breaking belts, switched from the gator back to the gates, no probs thus far. Hell I was breaking 2 belts a month.. Did you boost the **** out of it then let off fast? That will cause problems.. Never heard of a tension actuall breking apart..

we were breaking a tensioner on one of my customers truck every single time we ran it at the track it got so bad that we always had 2 spare tensioners and a couple of belts on the back seat of his truck but this was on a tvs set up we got the upgraded tensioner and they still break but not as often as before

I broke a tensioner when the belt flew after a heavy foot/release. Went to Magnuson's HD tensioner (available from Joe@LeftCoast) and havent had any problems since.
