broken bolt help
#1
I broke the driver's side bolt, closest to the rear on my header install. I put it all back together thinking that there may not be a leak, but I was wrong.
I am going to go back and take out the bolt, but it is broken off flush with the head. Does anyone have an idea on how to get it out.
If not, can I add a copper gasket on the last exhaust port, on top of the stock exhaust gasket?

gonna need a tap to get it out. Then being that it's on the back side of the motor....hope you don't have to remove the head to get the tap in properly.
I'm sure you can do it but it's gonna be a pain.

You should start thinking about "plan B" , a thick gasket and plenty of copper silicone.
I broke snap-on easy outs on my motor and it was sitting on the floor,in the truck is going to be a bitch. It's such a small bolt and you have to drill a perfectly centered hole and the dia. of the easy out is so small it's very easy to snap it off. Goop it up and forget about it until you pull the heads for port work and let them get it out.

sometimes they will break so that you can use a pick on an edge, sometimes they will unscrew, sometimes they wont.
If its flush, you can weld a nut on it.
You can also drill a hole in it and use a bolt extractor. Hammer the extractor in and dont use too big of a drill bit, and keep the drill bit as straight as possible. You dont want to get into the threads in the head.

Same experience here. Buy some LH bits and center punch that bolt if you can.
