brake pad?
#1
time for some new brakes all the way around i think and was wondering, what pad is everyone going with? typical auto zone/pep boys/o'reileys/advance pads or is there something else out there that will do better for about the same money. i priced three pads so far and the prices ranged from 56 to 156 just for the front!!!! also, how do the rotors look on the first pad change on normal driven trucks?

I got mine from Autozone for just under $50. As usual, I haven't gotten off my *** and changed them yet, but my rotors look fine. But I do suggest turning them anyway for any pad change.

I'm bumping this post since I'm due for pads too, but only on the back. The front still have plenty left. Is this of a concern? Rear rotors need turned too. Is it worth considering pad upgrades for now? Eventually I'd like to get some bigger and better rotors next time around to fill up the rims that are on the shopping list.

I have ~80K on my truck and all the pads look fine but my front rotors are slightly warped and have small hairline stress cracks in them. The rear rotors look fine.
As for the pad question, I have heard good things about the Hawk pads and several of the aftermarket brake/rotor manf. recoment them.

i say i need new pads but i haven't honostly looked to know for sure. truck kinda bounces a little on the rear now when i brake. guess i need to pull a wheel off and inspect. when i wash the truck i'll rub the rotors and they feel smooth but i would still have'em turned.

When I do my brakes I plan on using Brembo OEM rotors, Hawk pads and Valvoline synthetic fluid. I'm also looking for stainless steal brakelines to swap out and going to replace the ABS controller finaly. This should be a big improvement over stock.
