Exclamation braded inline fuel pump line help

I recently purchased all the earl hoses and fittings needed to do a clean inline fuel pump install. I got the relay all wired up but how in the heck does that silver braded fuel line go into the red couplers as shown in the pic below that im using for the install?

It should just push into the red connector. Once you thread the red female part onto the blue male part, it will squish the braided line in between and seal up really well.

it seems almost as though the hose is too wide to push into the red connector unless I were to peel the brades back?

It might thread in, I can't remember. It's a tight fit, but it's supposed to be that way.

Thanks for your help so far, your right its a tight fit, still cant get that sucker in there without frizzing the brades back and tearing them up. BTW is there a special tool to cut this braded line with?

I just wrapped it in electrical tape and used the cutoff wheel on my grinder. If you don't wrap it with tape the steel fibers will fray. The tape keeps it all reasonable together.

Thanks, all I really have to cut with is a hacksaw and my jigsaw and well, lets just say the hacksaw didnt work and after using the jigsaw the last inch of hose looks like a the hose had a bad braid day. I have to go out and get something to cut this with.

I think that the shop I got my last section of braided steel line from had a large pair of really sharp snips they used to cut it.

Like Thunder said, tape up the hose where you plan to cut so that the steel braid does not fray. A good hack saw will work. Just make sure the blade is not dull.
