Default Blower question, in relation to camshafts.

It's considered forced induction for a reason, correct?

Stick to say...the Radix.
How does it work? Forces more air down, creating a higher efficiency of combustion?

So, what are we looking at? With a radix, on a stock head unit. Would flow figures increase?

The reason I ask is, if this is correct. All of this talk about "blower" specific camshafts doesn't make much since. In my opinion.

yes flow figures i believe would increase if i am wrong we will both hear shortly but while flow is a good reading like a dyno it usually does not offer the end all be all answer to a lot of questions. as far as what it would do on stock i would look up posts in the search i have seen more than one discussion on this.

Good idea

I'm not planning on directing it into a blower discussion. Hopefully, I'll be able to direct it, into a discussion about camshafts for blower application. I just want to make sure I understand the way the radix (for discussion) works.

with a cam question i would try getting away with posting a quickie question on the f-body boards if no one responds here shortly or pm a lot of the techy guys i have seen a lot (i am not one of em) and there posts and responses are usually the longest as far as to which cam to use with the blower and be prepared to get tons of different answers i now stupid fast was using a 216-220 cam with a 6.0 and ati blower.

i have heard that you can not run as small of a pully on the Radix if you change you cam

Does this relate to creating boost due to the new camshaft, or what do you mean?

In this months Hot-Rod, there is a nice article on forced induction and cams. They decided to drop a 8-71 on their (ZZ?)454 motor that already had all the common bolt-ons. Let me check it out tonight and post back some details.

I got the magazine today. I'll go take a bit of time to read it.

they used a custom 240 w/ 112 seperation
interesting... they had alot of boost bleed off it looks like and lost alot of power.

No, it's due to overspinning the blower.

The reason a cam is deamed a 'blower cam' is because of the split duration. The blower forces air into the motor, but it's left up to the motor to get the exhaust out. The split duration in the cam gives the extra time to get the exhaust out.
