Default Black Smoke

I have a 2oo3 chevy with a 4.8 in it and sometimes when i get on it the truck will blow out black smoke. So if anyone knows what it is please tell me.

stock vehicles run slightly rich...so youll get build up in the system/motor from crusing so "getting on it" from time to time will blow the carbon out

nah, just cleaning out the crud... it doesnt hurt a thing to spin it up and blow some of the BS out of there.

If you're getting on it every day, and getting black smoke every day, then it sounds like you're not just blowing out deposits. Like Touchofevil said, you're probably running real rich. A good tune would fix that (assuming that your fuel pressure regulator and other components are OK). How old is your air filter?

as long it doesn't smell like oil you'll be okay better to be rich than lean.

My K&N air filter is about 7mounths old and it doesnt smell like oil
