Default Bigger Displacement Iron Block Rumor

Over at LS1Tech.com, there's a thread currently running about the possibility of GM introducing a larger iron block variant of the LQ type https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=452563. Has anyone here heard about this? I think that it could happen (taller deck & siamesed cylinders). This block could use the L92 heads, exhaust manifold, DOD, VVT, etc. I for one could see the L18 discontinued. Any thoughts?

Steve

I just saw an article in Motor Trend regarding this. The 2wd trucks will get the aluminum block and 4wd will get iron. Not sure why the 4wd needs more weight on the front but who knows...
