Default Big Tex i gotta cam question!

I am tryin to decide on whether to get an ls6 cam or a GM Hotcam. I have heard that you have run both of them? I was wanderin which one u think i should get? My mods and truck are in the sig. I do plan on gettin a yank 3000 or 3200 BTW. Any help would be very nice! thanks alot!

I would go with the LS6 cam over a hotcam in your truck. I haven't run a hotcam, but it has higher duration than the LS6 cam. I assume you are wanting to get an inexpensive cam? If not, just get a custom gound cam from onr of the boards sponsors. There are better choices for cams besides the two you listed.

You should gain 30+ with a standard comp 212/218 cam. The converter will make up for the loss of low end. Several guys have this cam. I'd be tempted to get the same cam on XE lobes so it has higher lift (about .560) and also have an additional 2 degrees advance ground in. This should help keep the power down in the rpms a little.

Contact a sponsor. Tell them you want a comp grind 212 / 218 XE lobes on a 114 LSA with 4*s advance (normally has 2*s). Check with Texas Speed and Performance. Trevor, Joseph and Jason should have some ideas on good truck cam grinds. Once you talk to someone, they may have a better suggestion than I gave you.

You can find comp cams that are better suited for the task for only few coin more then a GM perf. cam. This sites sponsors sell comp cams for low as $349, for all the trouble of changing cams...
