Default Big Red II gets a CAM!

After Pondering the Ls6 cam , decided I need more and a tighter LSA. Especially , since I had to change springs either way.

SO Patrick G hooked me up with one of his many, many extra aftermarket camaro cams he had. Turned out, the specs he had on his crane cam were really close to what I wanted and the price was right ( FREE)..So no complaining here <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I decided to go with the new comp cam bee hive 26918 springs and have room to grow on . In case I decide to go up some more on the cam, which all racers eventually do..hehe

After having only a stock 6.0 litre cam with .468 int. and .477 ish lift , this free cam greatly increased flow. My idle is perfect and no tuning problems at all. The cam was a install and go cam. I feel a slight, slight bump at idle and the exhaust is a little louder but other than that it seems stock (sneaky you might say)..I had to race another 5.3 litre truck to help verify the power difference. Low end torque feels and appears to be the same to slight increase,, but mid to upper power is a big increase..Passing power is now huge and I pulled the 5.3 litre by 4 more lenghts up top than usuall. On top of all this , I loged my first ever 13 MPG tank of gas. I have 29,000 plus miles and never hit the 13 MPG mark.. I will check MPG some more but it also seems to be the same MPG at the very least.

Tight LSA cams seem to work well on these engines. Although I'm not a fan of them, I like to separate my exhaust and intake events a little more

Seems like cam season for the 6.0L guys.

Guess I'm gonna have to get off my a$$ and put the new bumpstick and heads on.
