I see people talking about big-cube motors in the Internal Engine section, but they are all talking about resleeved motors, which I'm assuming are the aluminum 5.7-based motors. What does it take--parts and money wise--to get some cubes out of the iron-block 6.0? I guess that 0.030 or 0.040 over would be about 370 or so cubes. Are the stroke/rod ratios good? Any clearance issues in the block? Is 0.040 over the maximum that you can go with the iron cylinder walls?
Lots of questions, I know. Any general (or specific) info would be cool.
Thanks guys!

well, i was thinking of doing this combo in the future: if you get a lunati 4.00 stroker crank/rod kit and use the stock 6.0 bore of 4.00 you will have 402 cubes. you would need a good heads/cam combo as well as ls1 edit and larger injectors. plan on getting a new transmission while you have the engine out.

lots of those guys are actualy going with the iron 6.0 because of it's strenth. if you are going to keep it NA they say .060 will work on most motors, if you are going to supercharge or nitrous it then keep it to a .030 to .040 over.
you can go with a 4.00 stroke or a 4.125 stroke. the 4.125 stroke makes for an "out of square" motor and alot of those guys say if your going for high horse power and plan to rev it than the 4.0 stroke is beter. i like the idea of the 4.125 stroke and just dont rev it quite as high.
i would like to build a .035 over 4.125 stroke 422. as far as clearance problems i am prety sure the 4.125 stroke will need some machine work, don't know about the 4" unit though.
i got a quote not too long ago from one of the sponcers for a 409(.035over and 4.0"stroke) short block. he said right around $5000 and that included forged crank, rods, pistions, rings, machine work and asembly. you need a core though.
