Default Big brakes for 2500HD's?

Well after seeing the 1/2 tons can get larger brakes, can the big ol' boys get largers brakes too?

Somewhere around 13-14" rotors with 4 piston calipers up front is what I am trying to find. I figure a 14" rotor will need an 18" rim and around 13.5" will need a 17". I can get stainless lines made for ~$40/ea from Classic Tube too.

Is anything like this being planned or currently made?

Maybe Tbyrne knows...

Personally I see no reason to upgrade the brakes on either of my HDs.I've stopped 20,000 lb trailers with mine.In dont see much of a market considering how good the factory stuff is.Are the factory brakes not getting it done for you?

Well I figure with a 35" AT tire the braking would be pretty reduced due to the sheer mass of the tires. Also Baer is making oversized rotors and calipers for the 1/2 tons I didn't see the problem in making them for the 3/4 ton.

Don't the 3/4 tons already have 13"+ rotors? I can measure them tomorrow.

The big rotors, thick pads, and hydra-boost make for a damn good factory system. That system in a 1/2 ton would probably stand the truck on it's nose if you slammed the brakes.

I believe the rotors are around 12-12.5". You'd need 17" rims to clear a 13" rotor.

The rears are 2 piston also on the 3/4 ton...

WTF is Hydro-Boost?

Hydra-boost uses the power steering pump to boost brake pressure instead of a vacuum booster. I can get a picture of the brake booster tomorrow and post it up. I don't know if all 2500's get it or just the HD's???

The brakes are probably 12.5". I think that's what the rotors on the front of my truck measured too but, it's just a 1500.

ALL 2500's have the hydroboost....and it is the best thing to happen to power brakes EVER....no boost lag (that "frozen pedal" feeling you get when you jab the brakes quickly)

The front rotors are 12.8" and the rears are 12.9"....

Both front and rear calipers are 2 piston on the 2500's...the HD's I am not sure about

I don't think the 2500 and up really need upgraded brakes....mine have stopped a 13,000 lb fifth wheel by themselves when my brake controller died (I didn't even know the controller had died until someone mentioned that the light wasn't on !!)

Man sounds like those brakes are pretty badass! I'd prolly just get some stainless lines made and be good to go.

Thanks for the replies!

this is not the best picture in the world of a Hydroboost setup (it's on a Jeep)....but you can see the hydraulic pump in place of the vacuum booster behind the master cylinder
