Default Best muffler for my Suburban ??

I am looking to swap out the original as-big-as-a-whale muffler for a free flowing aftermarket muffler. What do you guys recommend?
It is important to me that the interior noise level does not go up significantly!!! I don't want a getto blaster for an exhaust system.

Got the exact muffler you need. It's the Magnaflow #12579 muffler. 3" in, 3" out. Use your stock pipes and have a muffler shop convert your tail pipe to a single exit coming off the muffler. The Magnaflow muffler is a straight through design. It has two side by side tubes so it's quieter than most mufflers out there, but it's completely straight through, no resistance. Barely louder than stock, but the flow increase is tremendous. It's a really big muffler. 5x11" body, 30" long. Your exhaust will be as good as any cat back, but the sound will be very smooth and mellow. I have this setup on my '01 Tahoe. It rocks!!

Thanks Patrick !! Magnaflow mufflers are great! I will look into this setup. What did you pay for the muffler? Where to buy Magnaflows on the web? </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Originally posted by Patrick G:

That is a good time you have with only the TC and magnaflow! Do you have any other plans for the Tahoe? You are just a couple of bolt-ons away from the 14's! Well goodluck in your future upgrades.

Actually, those 1/4 mile times were with the converter and HPP3 only. The Magnaflow was added last week. I plan on adding an ASP UD pulley and UPD airbox soon. These mods along with some good air should net me some 14s. The retail on the muffler alone is $146.42 and wholesale is $98.60. Southwestern Muffler in NW Houston installed mine.

You 5.3 guys are lucky.. I tried the single magnaflow and even the duel magnaflows but WAY to loud for me..Went back stock and added the duel cut outs..Quiet on the road and mean at the track

It seems like exhaust noise is just a mater of personel preference.. These trucks exhaust is pretty good for stock and not to much power to be gained there for the money spent..A muffler is cool but doing the whole exhaust-header deal on a semi stock motor is not effecient money to HP ratio..IMO

Patrick , how about a purple people eater and we do some GRUDGE racing for old times? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> ?):
