hey guys, i just bought all my stuff to wire my fans like they should be. I have a z28 pcm, i don't know if the truck pcms have the capability, (they do according to ls1edit), and the pcm will turn the fans on at a desired temp, stage one and stage two, or i can turn them on manually. Can a couple of you guys confirm the wiring? But what i'm more concerned about is, i want to install two tiny led's that will come on when the FANS ARE TURNING., not if the relays switch or the toggle switch is turned on. That would be easy, but i'm not sure on how to make the led's come on only if the fans are turning.
remember the led's can only take so much current and voltage.
go here to view the pic, it's just a jpeg.

thanks,
allen

for the led you need to wire them in parellel with each fan(ground one side of the led and wire the other side into the non grounded lead on the fan) the led have a polarity so if it doesn't work just turn it around.
not 100% sure about that diagram, i have a few questions, how do the fan outputs work on the computer? do they have a 12v out? do they supply a ground? your not going to want to have both a ground and a 12v supply at those switches unless there is an indicator light built into them. assuming that the computer has a 12v out for the fan circuits then you wont want a ground at the switch unless it is there just to ground the indicator light.

This may or may not help you any.
This is the electric cooling fan wire schematic from an 00 LS1 camaro.

Thanks Ox.
That diagram came straight from GM. Any concerns about the diagram should be directed to GM customer care at (toll free) 1-800-263-3777.

Ok, got it on the led's. wasn't sure if they could take that much current when the relay switches. i guess they take only as much as they need and the fans will take the rest. thanks parish8.
bigtex, thanks for the diagram, that's exactly what i needed. i'm not sure if i'll go buy the ls1 fan harness or just try and duplcate it with my parts, (they were very cheap so not that much of a loss)
good kill on that quote, oxidizr
thanks guys,
allen

i had no idead if the pcm supplied a + voltage or ground. from the schem that bigtes posted it appears to be ground. so i'll have to adjust my schem accordingly.
i see what you are saying about the ground and switch, i'll fix those, because pcm provides a ground. but the switch light is the only thing that requires the 12+.
thanks again

*** slightly off-topic ***
If anyone is interested in receiving the entire wiring diagram for a 99, 00 or 01 truck let me know (e-mail or PM) ... I printed out a bunch of goodies from Mitchell on demand about 30 pages of schematics...very helpful for wiring.
