Default Best intake materials?

Im trying to make my own CAI. I was just going to use rubber elbows and aluminum. Is that ok or should I use something else? Maybe steel? Whats so much better about silicon?

Thanks!!

Rubber and aluminum is fine. Silicone has more strength needed for forced induction. For an N/A engine silicone is not needed.

A carbon fiber tube is the best. It's heat resistant. Problem is tracking down CF in the right diameter. I've been seeking it out off/on for a couple years for the truck. I put a Halltec CF trap system on my Z06 and it was nasty! It was also $1300.00 w/matching CF FRC's.

Lots of guys go with some type of polyjunkolene tube with rubber couplings.
