It will eliminate you having to do that sure. You can still use this with or without a y-pipe. You can use them pretty much anywhere on your exhaust. I did not want to weld a 3-bolt flange on my headers. You see the v-bands used all the time in turbo setups. Plus FLP uses v-bands on their header setups. They do work well. These are gasketless, pain free connection that work great on header collectors.
