Default Best headers

Who has the best bolt on LT header's w/Cats for 4x4?
I like what i've heard of Dynatech, but they're not coated and i'd really like coated tubes.
Pacesetter has coated tubes but no cats? I need cats, fine is too steep not to have them.
Stainless Works look good, but are the same price as the Dynas. Might as well go with the Dyna for that much $$.

How hard would it be to run Pacesetter tubes and Magna flow cats?

Most exhaust combonations can work together depending on how willing your muffler shop is to do some fabrication. Just bolt the headers up and take the cats and mufflers to your exhaust shop, have them fab up the tubing, and then be done.

I thought the SW's were slightly cheaper than the Dynatechs? They're definitely nicer looking IMO (if asthetics makes a difference to you), and there's no clearance problems with the spark plug wires that I've read alot of guys with the Dyna's complain about. That weird hump on the drivers side is kinda funky looking to me, and alot of guys have to fab up brackets and/or zip tie assemblies to keep the plug wires from contacting the headers over there. I'll see if I can find my old thread about my SW install for you...search around for Dynatech info and you should find some threads with the wire/header clearance problems I mentioned...

Here's my old thread, complete with pics. You can see the clearance issue on the pass side that needs to be worked out for the 99-02's (that I mentioned in your CarDomain guestbook).

Hope this helps

Thank Bud for the link. Look like a quality set of pipe. I was wondering about that loop on the Dynas driver side, thought it was odd, what do they have that for? Price on summit is close.
Did you buy your SW's direct or does a sponser carry?

So would it be cheaper in the end to just buy a pre-fab'd kit like the Stainless Works or the Dynatech's or buy Pacesetter's and a couple of Magnaflow cat's and then have someone bend and weld tube to make it fit?

I got mine directly from StainlessWorks...I think they're a sponsor here now (didn't look to the right before I started typing this reply ). If not, I know that they're a sponsor of LS1Tech.com. I think Dynatech has the hump to allow extra clearance by the steering shaft? Not sure.

If you go the PaceSetter route, it may work out to be cheaper, but the PaceSetters aren't stainless, and will eventually start to rust (I've seen alot of coated ASM's that have turned that dreadful brownish-orange color).

Don't know how hard you run your truck, but I've had the Dynatech LTs for 18+ months (uncoated) and have had zero heat issues. One important factor though is that I don't really hammer my truck much anymore.

As far as the cost comparison, I suspect you could get the coated Pacesetter's and the muffler shop's custom work for less than the Dynatechs. Keep in mind, though, that the Dynatechs and maybe the SSWs are T304 stainless.

Good luck!
