Whats the best head upgrade on a 4.8? I was looking at 5.7 heads from a Camaro which were ported on ebay. Not sure what I'm looking for exactly, as far as specs and what not.

Before i start getting yelled at for spending money on the lowely 4.8L, i just want to build a little v8 to see what it will handle and how fast i can run and than when it blows up... i'll do the swap.

So for the time being.. what the best head upgrade?

go for the 317 6.0 heads, larger valves and larger ports, that should help it breath better.

 

oh alright.. wasnt sure if that bolted right up or not. Tuning is involved i would imagine?

The 6.0 heads have big combustion chambers that will overlap the cylinder bore of the 4.8, coupled with the increase to 72cc chambers.. the heads will lose compression.

Best bet would to get some ported 4.8/5.3 heads.
