Best cam for 5.3?
#1
Okay guys so did my exhaust and tune and yet I still feel a need for more power! Haha it's a bad drug!
I have a 01 LM7 with 1 3/4 exhaust with single 3, will get 1 7/8 longtubes, Speed engineer dual 3 in dump exhaust, and a TBSS intake as well for future plans but I can't find a good cam.
I want something with a huge gain but still have the daily driving aspect, something that won't rob a ton of torque for that upper rpm range power, and something that doesn't require a huge stall. Was looking at Vinci Performance Cam "The Trucker" or a TSP 220r or 224r cam. I'm not sure though. Any thoughts or recommendations?

TSP 220R ( 220/220 .600/.600 ) on either a 112 or 114 LSA. 112 will bring the power in a little sooner and give you a choppier idle!
Id run that cam with a 3000-3200 converter

Your LM7 will love a duration split with an exhaust bias. Keep the duration at or under 224* if you plan on keeping a stock stall speed converter. I am a big fan of something along a 220/224 LSA112

Slow 05- how does that 220r can compare to a BTR stage 3-or 4 cam? Tried to call you today but sat on hold and my lunch was over
Madman- I was looking at the Vinci Cam The trucker cause I heard it was a great cam
Gamble- I'm not against getting a converter, but I daily drive this and in AZ so I need ac at all times. I know that's mostly in the tune but I just want the most radical cam to get the most power out of my daily Silverado. Imma already pull heads and do new lifters since it does have quite a bit of miles in the motor, and redo the heads and to a TBSS intake but it's also and extended cab truck so I do need some torque. Still a really fun truck though

You want a converter, trust us. A Circle D 3200 is perfect for a NA DD with a nice cam.
It's a little loose but that's a good thing for a DD. It's going to heat up the tranny a little, so get a good cooler (if you don't already have one).
