Best CAI to use with Radix?
#1
Does anyone feel they have the best answer?
I'm getting ready to buy one but don't want to buy something I'll have to toss after I get a Radix.
Thanks,
Cory

I'm going to go against the grain - I don't recommend cutting holes in the stock box... I tried a number of different stock airbox mods in my old 5.3, and I didn't have much luck with any of them. The factory box was the only one that provided good off idle power and fuel economy. The truck was N/A, for what it's worth.
There was an old dyno on this site of a N/A 6.0 2500 that ran with a stock box, and one with a 4" hole in it - the truck dyno'd less w/the hole.
I personally think the open-element (K&N) filter kits would be best with the Radix kits. That's what I see a lot of the Cobra/Lightning people around me running.

The open air filters suck in all of the hot engine air. The stock air box with the two 4 inch holes draws in the cold air from down low. And if you run a duct up to it, even better. FYI:tried it on the dyno with another truck and it made 18 hp more with the radix. The most important part of FI is getting cold air in. N/A and FI are two completely different set ups.
