I keep it real.

I have the L59 which is the FF version of the LM7 in that series, 02-07, check your RPO code to be sure. My mail order tuner had no problem with stock FF injectors, a nice mild lope at idle and a great running engine on 87. I can pull 19 mpgs out of my daily 60+ mile round trip for work. I did a full rebuild, along with parts in sig I replaced springs, lifters, oil pump, chain. I put a Magnaflow in place of the oem muffler, an Airaid tube on the stock box with a KN. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere, the chassis has 248k mi., engine has about 50k. That Summit deal gets you just about all you need for the price of only a cam at other places.

With my small Tick TowMax2 Truck Cam I was not maxing out the stock injectors. It had a slight lope and sounded good. LS3 springs were fine for any RPM you'd see on a truck. So that would be a "cheap" upgrade. But by the time you add in gaskets fluids other parts and the tune it is always a lot more expensive than it sounds. +1000 easy.

The tuner will need to scale the injector data from GEN 4 to GEN 3. If you're only doing a small cam and exhaust you may be able to use the stock injectors, but they will be near the end of their duty cycle with zero room to grow. IIRC the stock 25 lb/hr injectors are good somewhere between 300 to 380 hp... there are online calculators that will help with injector sizing.

As far as tuning... PCMofNC out of Mooresville, NC can tune the truck. When I called a couple years ago they said I'd need an upgraded driveshaft to be allowed on their dyno. They did say street tuning would be no problem. Another local with a good rep is LSX Performance in Indian Trail, NC.

I wound up just buying HP Tuners to correct a mail order tune.
PCMofNC has been my tuner since I started down this road and I've had the truck on their dyno twice. Alvin and his team are top notch folks and never charge me more than shipping if I'm just tweaking the tune. I'd go with them in a heartbeat if you can.
