Default basic vortec firing question

so I have a 2001 silverado 1500 5.3. I was wondering what controls the coil packs is there a ignition control module if so where is it or how does the firing system in these trucks operated? thanks

The PCM below the battery at the left front of the truck does it all, engine, transmission and output to the BCM to control the guages and other functions such as AC and cruise.
No separate module for fuel or spark.

How about telling us what you are trying to accomplish or what problems you might be having.

Unless you are running very high boost at very high RPM,the stock setup in good repair delivers more spark than you will ever likely need.

Coil packs will not do anything. The stockers are HOT. As stated unless your making serious HP, not even worth the swap. Pull them off and paint them red if you want them to look like MSD's lol

Sounds like your wanting to raise the timing up.. Look into getting a tune for your PCM..
