Default Bad smell from trucks air.

Well.....when i turn my heat on i get a stale burning smell that just stinks and it seems to go away for the most part when i turn it off or on cold??? Do i need a new heater core?

Yea, that is probably it. Anti-freeze inside the cab stinks like pee.

Replace the in cab air filters under the glove box and it will take care of the problem.

Thats really what happens when the heater core goes bad. It gets a small hole and leaks.......your passenger side floorboard should be wet a little also. If the heater core is under the dash like most.

They should. I believe 99-02 uses the same filter.

My 99 has a cabin air filter...2 of em side by side actually IIRC...

yea two side by side, under/behind glove box, you can get to them fairly easy it's just a plastic plate the 1" wide or so you take out the fastener and they drop down and out.
