Question Bad Rings?

Well, I was doing the 60k maintenance and decided to swap out the Iridium NGK's with some of the standard TR-55's. Upon pulling the plugs, I noticed quite a bit of oil on the threads of all the plugs. I regapped them about 2k ago and don't recall seeing this before. The tips look good except for a greeninsh tint. Too rich? I find it hard to believe I that the rings are bad on all 8 cylinders so what else is there? The PCV valve crossed my mind since I just replaced that the other week...

check your compression to see if your rings are going bad.... i didnt think my rings were bad either,, turns out that 4 of the cylinders have rings that are in various stages of blown.

Checked those while under the hood last night. Everything looks nice and clean.

I guess I can pick up a compression tester this weekend. Going out of town for a few days, and it just happens to coincide with a Test and Tune at the local track.

Are you sure it was oil? Do you use antisieze on your plugs before you put them in? Once it has been on there for a few miles, it will 'cook' (for lack of better terms) and look like burnt oil.

I 'm busted! I haven't put anti-seize on them. I know I should...

Most of the plugs had a drop of oil hanging on the threads. The other few were more like sludge. I'll try get get some pics tomorrow....

Thanks for the interest!
