Yes and yes! The scan tool on my HPT shows percentage open, changes all the time as the pedal is moved.
Good job getting the diagnostic for free

that should be that hard to figure out.theres 3 wires plugged into it. one wire should have 5 volts going to it. one should be ground and one is a refrence wire to the pcm. one wire is probably open. shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to figure out which one it is. it could also have a spread terminal in the connector. maybe they have some lube tech working on it that dosent know what he's doing.

oh, on the question on pcm seeing how much the throttle plate is open. it should be about .6 volts closed and 5 volts wide open.

I just wanted to give everyone who posted on this thread an update. I checked all the wires today, and the wires are all ok. Putting in a new TPS Sensor did nothing when the truck was hooked up to the diag. computer. So my problem is my pcm right? Is this a programming problem with my current pcm, or it is physically damaged that's causing it not to read my tps? Do I need to make any mention of this problem when I get a new pcm tune? I'm planning on going with PCMforless here in a couple of months, and I really hope that takes care of the problem.

before you go spending the $$$ on a new pcm, you may want to find the appropriate pin on the pcm harness, and check for short to power that might have fried the pcm, or maybe a short to ground. i doubt you will find either, but it sure would suck to fry a new computer. also, i don't know what kind of signal the cam sensor sends the pcm, but if you can find the wire at the pcm, you may want to check to see if it is getting a signal first. just a thought.

Check for water in the connector at the PCM. Had a Tahoe that wouldnt shift. After checking the TPS sensor and no change in the angle reading, traced the wires back to the PCM and found water in the connector .
