Default Avalanch = LS1 or no?

my dad has a 2002 avalanch and we both want editing programs. im trying to talk him into going halves with me on ls1 edit. he says its a 5.3 litre and im pretty sure LS1's come in 5.3, 5.7, and 6.0 litres. so does anyone know if a 2002 chevy avalanche has an LS1 or not?

Yes it is a LS1 based motor. The LS1 based truck motors are 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L .

The motor out of your Trans-Am would be a direct swap into his Avy.
