Not sure if I posted this in the right section, but maybe one of you can help me anyway.

I just replaced a blown head gasket on my buddie's '89 Chev 1500. Now the auto tranny shifts so hard it feels like it's going to break something. I suppose I must have left a vacuum hose off or cable unplugged but can't find anything. I'm not really sure what controls the tranny in this truck.

Anyone have any ideas or sugestions?

Hook up or readjust the TV cable that goes to the throttle linkage. You either didnt hook it back up or it got knocked outta wack.

 

it should have a 700r4 in it, that is a non electronic controled transmission. So really just replacing the head gasket shouldn't effect it.

 

3 spd or 4 spd in it? both could be had.

 

Not sure, think it's a 4 spd. Thanks for the help, guys. The TV cable had a broken connector on the end, so I jury rigged something on the end. Obviously that didn't work, so we're going to try replacing the whole cable assembly.
