Default Auburn vs. Eaton

I want to hear all the good and the bad about the two. The factory g80 is no good any more. Now I need to choose between the two. THX.

I did oodles of research and got the Eaton. I found the Auburn gets recommend a lot because their required quantity for volume pricing for dealerships and shops is a lot lower than Eaton's. One shop owner told me he would have to sell $300,000/yr in Eaton products to get good pricing, whereas Auburn's quota was $60,000/yr. So the Auburns get recommended more. They're both probably good, but I found a skosh more negative feedback about Auburn units, so I got the Eaton. Plus the Eaton can be rebuilt, whereas the Auburn has to be sent in if there are issues, and the reman units cost almost as much as the new ones.

Good luck.

I've been running an Auburn unit for a couple of years with no problem. More $ usually means better parts but it's not always the case. Some people don't know how to keep oil in the rear end, change oil in the rear end , or put the right additives in when they do put oil in it. I'd bet that most of the negative feedback about the Auburn or the Eaton was caused by the owner. I'm about to open mine up for the 2nd time just to take a look and put some fresh oil in.
They're both good, I'd pick the one with the best price tag.

Eaton- rebuildable, tuneable, stronger.
Auburn- Sometimes quiter(usually equal), exchange program, no clutches.

I always reccomend the Eaton for performance.

I broke the spider gears on an Auburn Pro at the track, then Auburn sent me a replacement at no charge. The Auburn was only a month old and I never have had other problems with the replacement.

So where is a good place and price to get the Eaton LSD and maybe a set of gears?
