i got a fuel presure and a boost gauge yesterday, i don't really like the pillar mount set up, it is too easy to see by other drivers and i want to keep my truck stock looking. i decided to get tricky and mount the gauges in the over head council, they looked really good there until i sat in the truck and found out that they are imposiable to read unless i put my head between the seats.
i decided to take my dash apart and see if there is anyway to mount the gauge in the tranz temp hole, looks like it could be done to me, probably take all night to get it done but it would be prety cool. anyone done it before?
the other option would be to build an angled plate for the hole in my overhead council so that the gauges would be angled toward my eyes but they would still be hard to see.
are there any other gauge mounting options out there?

i have seen a gauge pod that put 2 guages in the botom corners of the cluster.
it didnt cost much either, bad thing is i forgot where i saw it. most probably in truckin' or sporttruck.

I don't think you can put anything in the "extra" hole. I think you will run into circuit board problems in your cluster. I have a center console that runs all the way to the dash on my truck and I mounted my N20 switches behind an CD storage hole with a door on it there on a plate. I like the idea of angleing the over head. I have been thinking of puting something there myself.

i took the whole cluster apart, the front lenz, the circuit board. it would be alot of work for sure. i made a circle on the circuit board that would need to be cut out and i would cut thru a couple of lands that would need to be jumpered around. also the front clear lenz would have to be cut off and glued back on to get the gauge in. it would be right there in a good spot and if i only wanted one gauge than it would be a no brainer but i still would need to find a place for the fuel presure gauge.

Not sure what options your truck has but this might work. What about the square on the bottom right of the dash bezel where the air bag keyhole is? It would be easier than having to look up, but I'm not sure how big your new gauges are. Just a thought.

there is pleanty of room where the air bag switch is but the angle looks like it is worse, it isn't looking up so much that is the problem, it is that i can't see the face of the gauge from an angle. Someone just told me about some beveled rings that you can put behind the gauges to help aim them, i think i will try those before i start cuting my cluster.

A 2 1/6" hole below the cluster next to the steering wheel works. Not the best spot! Then I installed Autometer's pillar pod for two gauges. I have both boost and air/fuel gauges on the pillar, nice but their in your face. It's hard to fine the best spot. I pulled to center seat and installed the console out of a 2000 Sub. two gauges on a nice plate fit were the tape deck was. I have a Autometer Trans Temp. to sell after I went with the Esca. cluster. Cutting the dash bezel apart to get the clear plastic off is a bitch. A hot knife works the best. I had a white face gauge plate and painted the bezel and part of the dash piece to match the truck color. Looked nice, but I like the Esca. cluster better. Good Luck!

So if I wanted to put in a white face gauge kit, I would have to cut the clear plastic off the cluster?? Man that sucks, I will probably screw up and crack it or something.
