Yea, it sounded good for a second. But building a 408 on a stand would be easier

a 5.3 stroked with a 4" crank gives you 359 cu in, smaller than a 6.0 with a small bore to boot. A 5.3 block can be bored out to stock LS1 size (3.905") and that will yeild 383 cu in. There is a guy here (kmtrider, I think) that did it. Forget about attemping this in-truck.

Ok, thanks guys, wasn't sure what an in truck change would involve..... and definatly since it doesn't seem feasible, why bother. If the engine's out, might as well just throw in a bigger motor.

i did the 383 kit in my 5.3 and love it. worth it to me. but when my engine went my block was still good. didnt feel like looking for a 6.0 block when i had a perfectly good engine block laying around. check out my build thread. i had some head aches mostly from anything FAST produces i found to be garbage and tech support is even worse.

Anyone thought about a short stroke 5.3 with 6.0 pistons?? My Buddy has a 5.3 block. We thought about boring it and using a 4.8 crank and rods with 6.0 pistons and make it a high revving motor?? O thought I seen a write up somewhere about this..

i rev engine could be fun but you have to be honest about how often your are going to be in the engines rpm band. dont think you would have a very streetable engine if you did that. i know a few guys that built 377 out of 400's and hated them on the street. circle track and drag guys love them but they lack street maners and end up being alot to handle.

Thats doable, but you need to start with a 6.0L block. No way can you bore a 5.3L that far. Boring one to 3.9 is iffy. 4" is asking too much.

It's been about seven years, how is the engine holding up? How does she run and what kind of power does she make?
