Default anyone see...intake manifold comparo

i think it was in super chevy (could have been another though) but it tested pretty much all of the readily avail. intake manifolds for LSX style motors (sheetmetal ones excluded) and the truck and LSX made the most flywheel horsepower on a stock 347" LS1....with long tubes and a few other things. the test was kinda skewed though, and wouldn't really have any bearing in real world applications. still it was a pretty cool article.

I was suppriesed also.....

I knew the LS6 would out perform the LS1, Weiend (aluminum), and even felt it would do better than the LSX (that manifold seems to have turned out to be a real scam) but I thought the truck manifold would make LOTS of torque but then compleatly blow above 4K RPM (not make MORE than the LS6).

As you said though, I think this was on a stock heads/cam LS1 so it might change some once you start adding more flow through the intake ports.

It was posted in the External section, but it looks like they had their HP / TQ numbers crossed. So the truck intake did make good torque, but fell off HP compared to the LS6. I agree, with more rpms from cam and heads, the truck will probably start to lag far behind.

i still think its that if you were putting a motor together for some kind of hybrid say a 1st gen fbody or something and had the clearance u cant beat the 6.0 intake for the price. i got mine for $80 off XLR8Nss

Question ????
So about how much torque and horspower would I gain from swapping the 6.0 on my '04 5.3 (stock other than HPPIII).

I saw the article.

I'm impressed, I'm gonna pickup a 6.0 IM when I find one for sale.

I thought there was just a "track manifold" that was on the 4.8, 5.3, and 6Liter engines, not a different one for each. Am I wrong?

all the truck manifolds are the same, 4.8 5.3 6.0 all have the same piece....there's a ton of power to be had by switching to an LS6 or LSX

Blacksheep said he gained a few tenths and something like 15 hp going to a LS6 from a truck. Probably all 5000+ rpm gains though.
