Does anyone run a Tick Performance cam in thier truck?

If you do....what's the set up cam size, stall, gears,RCSB ECSB, ect?

If you have dyno numbers....or track results....post'em up......

I'm looking at getting one of thier cams for my truck......just seeing what is out there from them that people are happy with......

 

I am not bashing tick by any means, and if you search on ls1 tech a lot of people are happy with their off the shelf cams. That being said, I requested Martin Smallwood spec a cam for my camaro, I was very clear on what I was looking for, the mods being done to it at the same time (it is a heads/cam/intake build), and the fact that it must pass ca smog. However, every cam that he spec'd did none of the things I requested. I didn't feel comfortable about the sizes of the cams (high 22x in, low 23x exh, 117+x lsa), so I floated these suggestions by Justin Gadberry and he concurred with my conclusions. That cam would've put my powerband up high which is not what I was looking for. Needless to say, I didn't end up purchasing one of the custom spec'd cams. I am going with a custom spec'd cam from Lonnie at Texas speed and according to the formula for determining overlap, not only will it pass smog but perform in accordance with what I am wanting. This isn't the first time I have done business with Texas speed (although it's my first time ordering a custom cam) and it certainly won't be the last.

 

Same here^^^. Asked for a very streetable cam as i daily drive it. Cam was for 370 and 6l90 combo. I was thinkin 220 range and he suggested low 230 on both sides and over 600 lift with a 112lsa. Ive seen vids of his cammed cars that run great but what he suggested wasnt what i was looking for. I would check with Pat G or pm stock 4.8 on here. Stock 4.8 is making over 900hp on a stock 6.0 with his small triple 12 cam.

 

I think he knows his stuff... but I had a similar experience.

I know someone here who got a really big cam spec'd for their ride (granted its not a daily), and I'm dying to see how it performs. I think its gonna like RPM just a tad too much... but then again who am I to really judge his decisions on someone elses ride.

 

That's very interesting and surprising to hear. I though I was just being an unreasonable ******* haha. I don't know it all about cams nor do I claim to, but I stopped listening to his advice when he told me that I wanted less negative duration in order to pass smog... Sorry if I'm thread jacking you OP

Can't say I disagree with you guys. Lot of bold claims from tick performance...

Send a pm to stock48 for any cam needs. He does a lot more than just turbo trucks.

 

I would stick with Brian Tooley, Geoff, or Patrick G.

Also the better you explain to them what your wanting and understand what your wanting the better they will spec the cam for you. Along with detailed specs of your complete build and use of the vehicle.

 

I run Martins cams. Like my cam in my truck its 230/231 598/608 115 but only 4degree over lap. Idle is very mild, almost smooth in gear. Cam numbers are good but the one you dont ask about make the difference.

 

I've always thought his cams were spec'd way to big. Obviously they make good dyno numbers because of how large they are. All of his turbo cams are in the 230's and I don't know why. Not bashing him at all either, but I shied away from him after reading posts of his, asking very reputable guys what they thought about a cam that he had spec'd for someone else. If you need to get input from someone else on if you spec'd a cam correctly, and you do it publicly, then you must not have much experience or confidence in what you are selling.
