I was pleased with the discussion Martin and I had about a new head/cam setup for my rebuild. His cams do go against conventional cam wisdom but after plotting out the valve events myself and looking up the cam profiles, it made sense to me so I went with his suggestion even though it was a bit larger than what I was expecting. It will be at least another month before my truck is running so I guess we will just have to wait and see if the cam performs as we are expecting it to.

Martin is 23/24 yrs of age with no real world experience. On various sites youll see he claims he tests every single cam he makes. Then on Yellowbullet he posts he doesnt test every cam he has spec'd either.

For a company like Tick to use Martin makes you question Tick as a buisness

His claims are full of contradictions. And when you call him on them, he has some extremely long winded justification/story to back it up. His goal may actually be to make you give up arguing with him because of his daunting walls of text. I get a laugh out of it though, cause I just see someone on the clock at work spending upwards of an hour defending their own ego.

Martin means well and does have some good ideas/theory behind some of his designs. But he is no Brian Tooley, Ed Curtis, or Geoff.

His downfall is how many build him up to be something he is not and he is trying to live up to it to soon...

I know someone here who got a really big cam spec'd for their ride (granted its not a daily), and I'm dying to see how it performs. I think its gonna like RPM just a tad too much... but then again who am I to really judge his decisions on someone elses ride.

I bought a couple tick cams by martin very nice guy and tick has good service. The first one I got has done very well getting a h/c/e g8 gt well in the 11s definite upgrade from livernois shelf cams I've had in the past. The one going in my truck is on the large side but plotting the valve events. I feel it will do well for what I'm looking to do with it. It is a 235/250 114+6 in a larger engine.

Hah! I wish I saw this sooner.

I mean I get why he spec'd yours the way he did with your compression where it is... but its pretty damn big.

My cam has performed well and Martin spec'd it. He will be the first to admit in the beginning he was specing cams with too much duration. He has made adjustments since then and I am pleased with my interactions and products with him.

That said, Stock48, Patrick and loads of others are amazing at what they do. You certainly can't go wrong with them and I will probably go to Stock48 for my next cam just based on what I have witnessed and experienced with his work.
