the 5.3 can only be bored out to 3.905 at max the 6.0 is 4.000

5.3 suck!
5.3 suck!5.3 puts out 295hp 325trq...3.788*3.622 (bore*stroke)..190/191 .466 .457cam
5.7 does 325hp 345trq........3.898*3.622.....................209/198 .500 .500cam
6.0 does 305hp 360trq........4.000*3.622.....................207/196 .479 .467cam
Seems to me that if given the same cam the hp and tor numbers might be a little closer and then only a small diff would be noticed... IMHO i think that the cubes only make a real big difference when the motors are being brought to higher plains (FI, Heads and wild cams, n2o ) Point being is if all you want is like 5-6 hundred hp to the wheels then use the 5.3 it wont matter (why would it? 600hp is 600hp, and N/A is N/A) Now maybe if to obtain the high numbers your using boost!! Well in that case the cubes will show a bigger difference since there is more lowend torq to be gained.

.Well if all he is running with 6.0 he needs to go back to the books and do some more figureing cause I have a 5.3 and as of right now my best is 12.59 all motor, cam and all bolt ons no head work. so how do figure 5.3 suck. This coming winter I am trying to be the first 5.3 all motor to hit 11.99.

Aye, the 5.3/4.8 have lots of potential.
The blocks are close but you would need to sleeve it to get the 6.0L 4" bore. You CAN bore it to 3.905" safely ( ask a few of us ) and stroke it to 383 ci. Like my signature says, that block does say 4.8/5.3!
In all honesty, long term costs would point to the 6.0L motor. On the other hand, there are tons of 5.3L long block motors out there for less than $300. Budget should drive you now but try to keep your long term goals in mind....

I did the same as ktmrider with the 5.3
Turned out well, built a strong bottom end with it. All forged stuff, thick rings.
Stroked it...to a 383. 4.000 stroke, 3.905 bore. no problems yet!
got sum boost going to it now, well see how it does with 12lbs later
