Anyone know how to change the internal air filter?
#1
My 02 2500HD with the 6.0 extended cab needs to have the internal filter replaced so I bought it from my dealer because no one else could get it but I drop down the glove box and have no idea where to go from here. I can't see where I would even start to open up something to replace the dang thing.
Thanks in advance,
Jon

Searching high and low for a guides link or even the word and nothing comes up at www.ls1tech.com so I must be blind.
Can you give me more info so I don't keep missing it.

Mine doesn't have one but I believe it is not in the glove box. You access it somewhere under the glove box. I think there are 2 of them but not sure. It is in my Haynes manual but I can't find it.

Visit this site and scroll down to the Silverado instructions. http://www.carquest.com/product/filters/cabin_air.pdf

I changed my interior cabin air filters this weekend. Under the glove box - three 7mm bolts hold the plastic cover up. Remove the two right side bolts, loosen the left bolt (above the trans hump). The left bolt is hard to get back in, so leave it attached. Once the cover is down, you will see a 1-2" wide plastic clip in front. Unclip the front and pull it down. 1 filter will slide right out. The second filter will slide forward then down.
Should take about 5 minutes to do. I was shocked to see what they looked like. Besides being cleaner air, my A/C blows much harder now.
My truck is 4yrs old and 70K miles. Mostly highway and city driving. If you think you might want to change yours, look here:

Do all the trucks have these filters? I don't think mine does but I am not positive because I bought it used. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> Is this only for 3/4 and 1 tons?? <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

Jwrench- I think its just regular dirt on that filter. Look at the right ones lower corner. In the vent system, it had this buildup of dirt, bugs, grass, and other little parts that just fell on my floor mats when I pulled out the filter.
Cash- I have a 1/2 ton silverado. I think all new trucks have these filters. My A/C system sure does blow much harder now.
